So, basically on impulse about 2 weeks ago, I decided to take up the guitar. I am not good at all, but I have been finding practicing and learning notes to be really fun, although a little emotionally draining, due to the frustration that I can't really seem to do anything right on that thing. Maybe I am being a little over dramatic, because I still have a really good time playing. I have learned a couple cords, I can play a G Major correctly 90% of the time, I know the frets for a C major as well, although I can't play it well. I am also learning minor cords, which I think are my favorite. Minor cords have this old-timey western sound, like in a cowboy movie, and I really enjoy that.
On another note, that connects this to my blog title, last night Ty kept making fun of me appearance, basically saying I looked like I belonged in the 70s. What Ty doesn't know is that I have been aware of this for months now, and have adjusted my clothes to match the overall look of my hair and beard. The way I see it, if I am going to look like I am from the 70s, I might as well look good doing it.

Michael and Michael Have Issues
Coming in July, from two of the members of Stella, is a show called "Michael and Michael Have Issues." I am extremely excited about this, since I have been a fan of it's two stars/creators, Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter, since I first saw them in Wet Hot American Summer. After falling in love with that movie, I discovered Stella, another gem involving this comedy duo. Stella only lasted a season, but if this show is anything like Stella, I hope it lasts for a long time. These guys are the types of comedians that really appeal to true comedy nerds, but unfortunately have yet to find very much mainstream success. I hope this show does well, I am really excited to see it.

Cancelled TV Shows
I don't know why I do this to myself. I always go find some TV show, one that was usually prematurely canceled, and get super into it. Then I watch the whole series, knowing full well that many of the storylines will be left unfinished. This week, I am watching the ABC show Invasion, which was originally marketed as a companion piece to Lost (It even has the same ominous "Let time on..." announcer). So far the show I actually pretty good, all the acting is top notch (and features Tyler Labine of Reaper and Breaker High fame) and the story is fairly riveting. Just another casualty in societies quest to watch more reality television.

Reaper

So I love the show Reaper, but they might be canceling it. That would suck, so I am posting this. Click on the Save Reaper button over there and make it happen.

Sing-A-Longs and Nazis
Today I watched Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog and read Maus. Maus was a surprisingly humorous recount of the Holocaust. Don't get me wrong, it was serious when it had to be, but there were a lot of funny parts as well. All in all, I see why it won the Pulitzer. I also watched Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, and I found it to be a really exceptional musical. It was really funny, but had really well written music as well. I also found myself getting emotionally involved in Neil Patrick Harris' Dr. Horrible. I actually wanted thinks to work out for him, and was upset when things didn't. The lead actress, Felicia Day, was perfect. She wasn't some sort of glamor model, but was the type of girl the average type of guy who watches this could really get into. After seeing this, I want to see more of Felcia Day, and a quick visit to wikipedia makes me want to revist some of the things I have seen her in before. I hear that a sequel is already in the works, and I will be jumping at the opportunity to see that.

Star Trek
Today I went to see Star Trek, and it was fantastic. I will admit to not being a fan of the original series, but the previews and reviews were all so awesome that I had no choice but to see it. The action sequences were amazing, the writing was top notch, and every actor nailed his part. I will probably be impaled by Trekkies for saying this, but I think every single actor nailed their part much better than the original cast. Zachary Quinto was especially awesome as Spock, but everyone else deserves their due as well. I honestly feel like this is going to be the "Dark Knight" of this summer, and by that I mean it will be by far the best movie of the summer. Go see Star Trek already!
